Who you are dealing with

This site is operated by INNOMATRIX LIMITED, a private limited company registered in England and Wales, company number 16188012, registered office 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. Using the site means you accept what is on this page. If you do not, the remedy is simple: close the tab. There is nothing to cancel and no account to delete.

What you make here is yours

You keep every right in the patterns you create with these tools. That includes stitching them, giving them away, publishing them, and selling them — as physical work, as PDF charts, as kits, as anything. We claim no licence over them, we do not need a credit, and we could not take them back if we wanted to: they are generated on your device and we never receive a copy.

The one thing we cannot give you is rights we do not have. If you feed in a photograph, a logo or a drawing that somebody else owns, charting it does not make it yours. That is between you and whoever owns the original.

What we promise about colour, and what we do not

We do not guarantee that a DMC number shown by these tools matches the colour you see on screen, or the colour you would get on fabric. DMC publishes no official RGB values; our table is built from three public datasets by taking the median of each channel, and it has never been checked against real thread. Screens differ, dye lots differ, and printed charts fade. The full explanation is on the about page.

So: check a physical floss card before you buy thread. If you buy the wrong shade because a square on the screen looked right, that is a risk you are taking on, not a defect we are liable for.

The same goes for the sizing figures. The arithmetic is exact — stitches divided by fabric count — but it assumes your tension is even and your fabric is what the label says. Measure a test square if the finished size matters.

Your saved patterns are not a backup

Saved patterns live in your own browser's storage, not on a server. Clearing your browser data, using private browsing, or switching device will lose them, and we cannot recover them because we never had them. If a pattern matters to you, download it. That is what the project file and the PDF are for.

Historic patterns

Where this site publishes a pattern taken from an old book, the source is out of copyright and is named on the page along with a link to the scan it came from. Our own rendering of it — the symbols, the floss list, the layout — is ours, but you may use the charts freely, on the same terms as anything else you make here.

Trade marks

DMC is a trade mark of its owner. Chart Stitch is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by DMC. We use DMC shade numbers only so you can identify thread; the colour values beside them are our own approximations, not the manufacturer's figures.

Availability and liability

The tools are free and provided as they are. We do not promise the site will be available, that it will keep every feature it has today, or that it is free of defects. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

If you are using the site as a consumer, you keep your statutory rights.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring proceedings in your own courts.

About the colours. DMC does not publish official RGB values, so every on-screen colour table — including ours — is an estimate rather than a manufacturer figure. Ours is built from three public datasets by taking the median of each channel (how we built it); use it to plan the shape of a design, and check a real floss card before you buy thread. Charts you make here are yours, and nothing you upload leaves your browser: the converter runs entirely on your own device, with no account and no upload.
