The short version: your pictures never leave your device, your charts are stored in your own browser, and there is nothing to sign up for.
Pictures you convert
The chart maker runs entirely in your browser. When you choose a picture, it is read by JavaScript on your own device, converted to a grid there, and never transmitted anywhere. There is no upload endpoint on this site — not a disabled one, not a private one; the code that would send an image does not exist.
You can verify this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and convert a picture. You will see requests for the page, the stylesheet, the script, the fonts and the colour table — and nothing carrying your image.
Charts you save
“Save to this device” writes the chart into your browser's local storage. That data stays in that browser, on that device. We cannot read it, it is not synced, and it does not travel with you to another computer or phone.
The practical consequence, which is worth knowing before you rely on it: clearing your browser data, using private browsing, or switching devices will lose those charts. Download anything you care about.

The site is served through Cloudflare, which as the hosting provider processes ordinary server request data (IP address, time, page requested, user agent) to deliver pages and defend against abuse. That is standard for any website and is not something we query, analyse or export.

About the colours. DMC does not publish official RGB values, so every on-screen colour table — including ours — is an approximation. Our 456-shade table is merged from three independent open datasets by taking the median of each channel; use it to plan the shape of a design, and check a real floss card before you buy thread. Charts you make here are yours, and nothing you upload leaves your browser: the converter runs entirely on your own device, with no account and no upload.
